AWC Staff Services are looking for a a
Principal Contractor Site Manager (PCSM) role is needed for a substation
extension project in Ashford, about 4 kilometers south of Heathrow. This
substation is considered critical for the country and for Heathrow
Location: Ashford.
- Works: The project involves a live substation where there will be 4SGT replacement, a lot of CV war cabling, and upgrading the substation. A building with Gas Insulated Switchgear (GIS) will be built later, in about 18 months. The site manager will likely not be involved in the construction of the building but their knowledge may be required during the development of the design. Site activities, such as investigation works and other works in the substation, are ongoing.
- Urgency: The role is needed as soon as possible because the survey works are ongoing
- Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8am to 5pm. This is a 45-hour week. The rate of £60 per hour, but we will not to restrict candidates based on the rate as it is negotiable
To apply for the role, you will need:
- National Grid Safety Instructions (NSI) 6 and 8 Competent Person (in date).
- Temporary Works Coordinator certificates.
- CAT 1, CAT 2 with Substation High Voltage (HV) module for utility excavation.
- Site Management Safety Training Scheme (SMSTS).
- Safety, Health, and Environmental Test (SHEA).

Duration: 3-4 months (potentially longer)
Rate: £60 Per Hour - Negotiable
